Post-Operative Instructions for Endodontic Surgery
Thank you for trusting us with your care. Please follow these post-operative instructions to ensure optimal healing and minimize discomfort:
Pain Management
- For moderate pain:
- Take ibuprofen 600 mg (e.g., Advil or Motrin) AND acetaminophen 500 mg (e.g., Tylenol) every 6 hours as needed.
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dosages.
- For severe pain that cannot be controlled with the above regimen:

Oral Hygiene
- Starting the day after surgery, use chlorhexidine mouthwash (0.12%) twice a day (morning and evening) for one week. Swish gently for 30 seconds and spit out.
- Avoid brushing or flossing the surgical area until instructed otherwise.
- You are encouraged to brush and floss your other teeth as usual to maintain good oral hygiene.
Dietary Instructions
- For the first four days after surgery, only consume liquids such as broths, smoothies, or clear juices. Avoid anything hot, spicy, or acidic.
- Gradually reintroduce soft foods after the fourth day, as tolerated.
Additional Guidelines
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, and vigorous rinsing, as these can interfere with healing.
- Limit physical activity for the first few days to avoid unnecessary strain.
